In 1819, the Swiss doctor Enrique Faber begins to practice in the Cuban city of Baracoa and soon causes a stir, on the one hand because he understands more about his subject than the local doctors, and on the other hand because he also treats slaves and the poor. Little by little, strange rumours start to spread: Is Enrique really a woman? - Based on historical events from the Spanish colonial period.
